Stegra and Axpo sign 2 TWh electricity deal

To deliver fossil-free electricity to Stegra’s production in Boden

Axpo Nordic and Stegra have signed a power purchase agreement for the supply of electricity to Stegra’s integrated green hydrogen, green iron and green steel production plant in Boden, northern Sweden.

Under the agreement, Axpo Nordic will supply 2.25 TWh of electricity over three years, starting in 2027, to Stegra’s facility in Boden, currently under construction. Both parties view this agreement as the start of a long-term business relationship and a key component of the electricity supply for Stegra’s large-scale green production.

"Securing power from Axpo is a crucial element of Stegras' energy portfolio, providing fossil-free electricity for our large-scale hydrogen, iron, and steel production in Boden. This is essential to our mission of decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries."— says Carl-Erik Lagercrantz, CEO, Vargas Holding.
