Hydro Havrand, Hydro’s green hydrogen company, is partnering with H2 Green Steel to explore the possibility of producing green hydrogen for offtake in the Nordics and Brazil, accelerating the decarbonization of heavy industry.
The agreement includes investigating a greenfield project for production of green hydrogen in Brazil. As both companies are based in Nordic countries, they will explore the possibility for a large-scale hydrogen production facility the region as well. The two companies will also collaborate in areas such as defining hydrogen production plant design requirements, system standardization and optimization.
All projects are pending successful feasibility studies and will be subject to obtaining any necessary regulatory clearances, with the ambition to begin executing projects in the second half of the decade.
Together, H2 Green Steel and Hydro Havrand will help make heavy industry more sustainable
“Green hydrogen, which is made from renewable energy, can be applied in a range of industrial processes to replace fossil fuels and cut CO2 emissions. Together, H2 Green Steel and Hydro Havrand will help make heavy industry more sustainable,” says Carl-Erik Lagercrantz, Vice Chairman of H2 Green Steel.
