Aira to invest €300 million and manufacture up to 500,000 heat pumps a year in Poland

Production facility to boost clean energy-tech in Europe

Aira, clean energy-tech champion, today announced the inauguration of its production site in Wroclaw, Poland.

This significant milestone comes just one year after Aira’s official launch, marking the successful commencement of production of the company’s intelligent heat pumps and demonstrates Aira’s commitment to expanding its operations across the European market. The new production site was officially inaugurated by Aira Group CEO Martin Lewerth, Aira Chairman Harald Mix, and Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Sweden in Poland, Anna Uggla.

Aira agreed to acquire the production site from Swedish company Volvo in 2023 and expects to create up to 2000 jobs over the next decade.

“The facility is not just a factory; it's a beacon of our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and a decarbonised future for Europe. Today, 130 million boilers still heat homes across Europe, which presents a significant market opportunity and more importantly, heat pumps significantly reduce customer heating bills and carbon emissions. Our Polish production site is pivotal for this transformation, and it is great to get started now”, says Martin Lewerth, Aira Group CEO.

The factory will have the capacity to produce up to 500,000 heat pumps a year. Aira’s ambition is to serve five million European homes with clean energy-tech solutions over the coming decade, and the factory in Wroclaw will be instrumental in realising this goal.

Aira has secured a €15 million grant from the Polish government to support the establishment of the Wroclaw site, a testament of the broader conviction in Aira’s business model and in the importance of the company’s mission.

"The inauguration of Aira’s factory is a significant milestone in our vertical integration and scale model. This production site will be crucial in meeting Europe's decarbonisation goals and reducing heating bills for millions of households. The €300 million investment underscores our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and job creation in Poland, driving the electrification of residential heating,” says Harald Mix, Chairman of Aira and Vargas.
